Help shape an industry voice that influences legislative initiatives
Members can participate in the MTC Legislative Committee to voice their opinions and influence MTC's position on critical legislation.
MTC was instrumental in the passage of the single most important piece of tourism legislation to be endorsed by the Maryland General Assembly in the past decade. This law mandated that a Maryland Tourism Development Board be formed to oversee the Maryland Office of Tourism Development in all aspects of the state's marketing and promotion on behalf of tourism.
MTC encourages full participation between government agencies on tourism-related functions.
MTC annually works to ensure an increased Office of Tourism budget for the promotion of tourism.
MTC opposes all efforts to increase tourism taxes that are not dedicated to tourism promotion.
MTC continually supports funding for tourism infrastructure and other tourism-related capital projects.
MTC supports uniform, predictable tourism signage on state highways and participates in DOT meetings for continual oversight of the program.
MTC continues to protect the industry from overregulation.
MTC works with other business entities to control corporate taxation, workers' compensation, and unemployment costs.
