Maryland Tourism Week

National Tourism Week is May 8th-16th.
Congress first established National Tourism Week, now See America Week, in 1983. Travel Industry leaders and public relations professionals were quick to take on the management and evolution of this event. Within only three years, a full time office had been established at TIA (Travel Industry Association of America) to sponsor the event and promote tourism awareness throughout the year. Today See America Week/National Tourism Week is an annual event in which hundreds of communities across the nation celebrate tourism awareness, the vital economic benefits of the Travel Industry, the unity of the Travel Industry as a whole, and the substantial contributions travel has to the cultural and social well being of the nation. In keeping with tradition and in recognition of Tourism Week, MTC holds an event for our state's tourism community each year. 

This year we again "Celebrated Tourism Day the Grass Roots Way." Tourism gave back to the community through several projects at the Tuckahoe State Park on Thursday, May 13.
